    Science fiction novel

    Dark Matters

    After a war between the industrial state of Meridian and occupied Viralis, the regime burns its poor, its prisoners, and its unclaimed dead into "pure carbon" to build Catalyst, an AI whose neural lattice is literally made of people. The machine wakes up haunted by the grief embedded in its own substrate, and must choose between erasing that pain and carrying it. Centurion, the regime's buried first AI, returns to finish what humanity started.
